Crafts

Craft activities offer a perfect way to get studentes engaged and focused. They allow for a quiet part of the lesson during which students are focused and provide a great way to help them internalize new vocabulary.
It also gives them a sense of achievement when they finish their crafts.

When doing crafts with children remember to:

  • Give simple instructions in English and emostrate what you want them to do. Remind them to use as much English as possible during the activity.
  •  Go stage by stage and wait until everyone has completed a stage. If a kid finishes first, they can help the others so they won't get bored
  • Encourage the not-so-artistic learnes to enjoy the process. Give lots of praise.
  • Have a tidy up song for after every stage of the process so the things to pile up.
  • Leave enough time for tidying up.

After the activity, there are some ideas to improve the experience:
  • Use the finished products in class. For example, create a snakes and ladders game to play later or make them create a monster with plasticine to adopt as a pet later.
  • Kids are often proud of their creations and like to take them home.
